About Firefly Plantation

Built on the foundations of an 18th century homestead, Firefly Plantation sits on a beautiful estate just north of Port Elizabeth on the lush and tranquil windward side of the island. Firefly is a sister hotel to the legendary Firefly on Mustique, but the Bequia version is very much a place with its own style and identity with abounding charm and character.

This is a living, working plantation where the rich soil yields abundant crops of oranges, grapefruit, guava, breadfruit, plums, mangoes and, of course, bananas. In the lower part of the extensive grounds there is a large freshwater pool where you can spend lazy hours enjoying your book while relaxing in hammocks under the trees. There is even a tennis court if you feel like some exercise before returning to the cool waters of the pool.

Firefly has four exquisite rooms on the hillside behind the main building and they are furnished and equipped to the highest standards of chic luxury. Beautiful linen and cotton bedding, wonderful bathrooms and each room has a private terrace with spectacular views over the ocean as well as of the lush grounds of the estate. There is also a delightful and very private 2 bedroomed cottage in the grounds of Firefly – the ultimate honeymoon location.

The heartbeat of Firefly is the open-air pavilion-style bar and restaurant, which offers a range of delicious dishes and cocktails featuring the produce of the plantation. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are all excellent.

Guests are welcome to explore the grounds and the ruins of the 250-year-old sugar mill and to take a tour of the plantation with the estate gardener. Guests can also indulge themselves with the ultimate Grenadine experience – a few days in Firefly Bequia and a few days in Firefly Mustique….wonderful!
